The thing above may look like some mutated Made-in-China Kinect device, but it’s not. In fact, those aren’t even camera sensors. What you’re looking at is Klipsch’s latest soundbar, the Gallery G-17 Air, and boy it looks sexy in a way.
Although not totally new, its full specs have been revealed and its price re-vamped from $400 to a slightly ‘Apple-ish’ $530. The bi-amplified stereo rig features four individually powered drivers that aim to deliver full-range sound via two Tractrix-horned .75-inch tweeters (10 watts each), and dual 2.5-inch, 20 watt woofers.
Although you’ll probably be streaming music over WiFi from iDevices or iTunes, the unit’s equipped with USB and 3.5mm inputs should you ever want to plug-in directly or juice-up your battery. There’s an ultra-svelte grill-cloth magnetically attached to the front, playback and power buttons on the side, and it also comes with a remote.
The system itself sits atop a tempered glass base, but if space is at premium it can be mounted to a wall. The G-17 is set to release this fall, but if your ears are already tingling you’ll find more info in the source link below.

It’s rare to hear news from Iriver, but times and times again, they pop out of nowhere and introduce some teaser video with a few names. This time, it’s some colourful PMPs, named U100, P100, and D2000. Read more…

Android really is getting everywhere, and now we’re seeing it slipping into the famous Creative’s Zen lineup. Well, there’s no harm in utilizing your fairly familiar mobile OS in something that’s also very mobile. Doubt as the successor of the X-Fi2, this new Zen Touch 2 will be running on Google’s Éclair. We’ve seen Android embracing in-flight entertainment, and printers, and now they’ll probably mass invade the PMP (portable media player) market. This is not the first time we come across an Android PMP though. What’s this? Some might know, but some don’t. This is Archos 43, an Android-based portable media player with a 4.3-inch touchpanel, support for a zillion (give or take) file formats, an HDMI output and integrated WiFi. Archos said that it’s going to ship in ‘mid-October’, but if we look at the calendar, the pre-order doesn’t seem to support Archos’s claim. The 16GB model is available for you to claim for $249.99. Let’s see when it’ll arrive if you pre-order now.

This is rather fast, thought sadly very much expected and anticipated. The iFixit crews have put their paws onto the latest generation iPod Touch. Read about their thoughts below. Read more…

Alongside the iPod Shuffle, Apple has also announced their 6th generation iPod Nano. From the picture above, it’s obvious that the buttons, or click wheels as Apple calls it, is not gone. Odd isn’t it. The Shuffle is getting its click wheels back, and yet the Nano is ditching it. But what’s gone, is replaced by a touchscreen panel. Obviously, you’ll be manoeuvring your new Nano with the touchscreen interface. This is obviously not an iOS interface, but merely a simple touch UI mod from the original Nano interface, to be ‘touch-friendly’. Read more…

Yes we’ve seen lots of Android smartphones, and some tablets too. But PMP (Portable Music Player) running on Android is rather rare. Samsung was the first to load Android onto their Yepp-YP-MB2, but now Philips seemed to have followed their footsteps with their latest GoGear Connect PMP powered by Android too. It’s a rather nice direction to drop the proprietary OS in favour of Google’s offer, as things get more ‘global’ and much well taken care off instead of in-house development which might even cost more too. Sony’s has released their new E-Series Walkman, the E350. Available in blue, red or black, these Walkmans come in both 4GB and 8GB variants, and are able to offer up to 50 hours of music playback, and up to ten hours of video, and support a variety of formats. Other than that – well, there’s not much more than that, unless you’re hoping for a laser ala James Bond, then you’ll be very much let down. If you can’t wait to get your hands on one, well you’ll have to wait until next month, but it’ll cost you $70 for the 4GB and $80 for the 8GB version once available at Sony Style. Read more…

The Uplink Audio Strap System is a weird concept. Now why would I say it’s weird? Now for start, it gives those joggers another option to listen to music on the go, if they hate the plug-in ear buds. That means it’s a great stuff for nerdy joggers who love to show off their latest gadgets. But then, the concept from Adam Hammerman has a very high-tech ultrasound speakers, which can connect to nearly all your mobile devices and portable music players. It’s so high tech, that no matter how loud you blast the music, only you can hear the sounds. Others by-passers won’t be able to hear a single hum from this new toy. But if you’re going to show off this to the whole world, why restrict the sounds to only yourself? Totally redundant!
But of kush, the tech doesn’t stop there. This new concept is trying to make you go green with the integrated solar panel, which is flexible. Though it’s just a concept, but I wonder how long you can power up the player with such small solar panels.
