
Still remember about the laptop explosion, Sony has finally issued a worldwide recall of all Sony-manufactured lithium-ion batteries used in notebook computer. Lenovo/IBM joined the ranks of Dell, Apple and Toshiba in issuing a recall for all Sony batteries that ship with their notebooks. Between the three of them, Dell, Apple, Toshiba, and Lenovo, the number of recalled batteries worldwide is up to 7 million. Sony plan to consult with OEM customers who wish to participate in the recall, so if your battery is a Sony that hasn’t been exchanged, watch out for more updates from your notebook manufacturer.

Ken Kutragi head honcho of Sony Computer Entertainment threw in a few surprises for Playstation 3 fans at the Tokyo Game Show. The inclusion of the HDMI port(pic above) for the 20GB version which was earlier optional in order to keep costs low and now you enjoy high-def gaming on your large LCD without any extra cost. The Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g) and the 3 in 1 card reader will still remain optional for the 20GB model. The price has been reduced from an earlier 59,800 ($ 499) to 49,980 Yen ($ 425) almost a 10,000 Yen drop ($ 85). The revised pricing is for the Japanese market and the US pricing will still remains the same ($ 499). For European and Asian fans, you will have to wait till March 2007 to get one. Good news for those who wish to have a Sony Playstation 2. Sony announces a price-cut of their current Playstation before PS3 launch in Japan. The PS2 SCPH-77000 CB/CW will sell for 16,000 Yen ($137) including tax in Japan starting this September 15th. It is about 20% less than the current price. Sony already cut the price on this Playstation 2 in the US in April to 129.99.

Chinese artist Gillian Chung had her pictures/video clip secret taken when she was undressing at the backstage in a recent concert at Genting, Malaysia. Those pictures and clips were taken by a pinhole camera in a wall cabinet and it is said that everything was done by a paparazzi from Hong Kong magazine company called 壹本便利, that’s very bad, shame on them. Steve Irwin, the naturalist and television star known as “the crocodile hunter” has died in a diving accident in north Queensland on Monday today. The police say he was stung through the heart by a stingray while diving off Port Douglas. This accident occurred when he was filming a documentary around midday AEST near the Low Isles. The rescue helicopter rushed to the scene but it was too late. Irwin’s body is being taken to the morgue in Cairns. His family are believed to be flying from Brisbane to Cairns this afternoon. Stingrays have flat bodies and tails with serrated spines, which contain venom that can cause cuts and puncture wounds. The injury usually occurs when a swimmer or diver accidentally steps on one.

The clever eBay Belgium have turned that frown upside down and promoting their new ad campaign along the way. Finally Dell is doing something on their explosion and fire catching laptop by recalling 4.1 million notebook batteries (the largest recall in Dell history).The Faulty batteries that were manufactured by Sony due to the innate ability to overheat and catch fire when it is in use. The affected notebooks were shipped between April 1, 2004 and July 18 this year. According to Dell, about 18 percent of their laptops sold during the time period have those faulty batteries which can overheat and possibility cause fire and explosion. Spotbit has recently launched their own free e-magazine about the latest technology gadgets and products earlier this month. Now they are facing another warrant from Zinio, a commercial e-magazine company (profiting from selling magazines online as distributor). Zinio claims that Spotbit uses material from their publications but has no evidence on which content has actually infringed their copyright.
Thus, Spotbit claims to be using material found on the internet from public domains and official sites for their magazine. The dispute goes on, and while we are hoping to get some free magazines released in the internet, Zinio on the other hand is making sure that there are no free magazines circulated. Expo designers have become more creative in how they present their exhibits simply just to stand out from the crowd and impress travel weary seen-it-all designer attendees. Companies are blowing huge budgets building these temporary temples designed to attract peoples. The Salone Del Mobile in Milan has played host to spectacular displays recently.
