Buffalo is going to release the world’s first USB 3.0 external hard drive later this month which looks a bit like the Xbox 360. It is available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB storage. If you computer does not have the USB 3.0 port youo can use the NEC IFC-PCIE2U3 2-port PCI Expressx1 host controller that is included in the package. The 1TB and 1.5TB will be available at $225 and $284, respectively.

A-Data has come out with a new waterproof and shock resistant portable HDD named SH93. It will come in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities. This external HDD features a molded rubber-plastic case and special cushion materials making it waterproof and shock resistant. It has meet the military’s MIL-STD-810F standard for drop resistance and withstanding being submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes. No words on pricing and availability at the moment. OWC (Other World Computing) is going to release the new Mercury On-The-Go Pro portable hard drive that comes in 1TB of storage capacity. With 1TB (1000GB) you can store up to ,000,000 JPEG photos, 500 DVD movies, 76-hours of digital video, or 350,000 MP3 songs. The new model also comes with 8MB caches and a data transfer speeds up to 100MB/s. It weighs 1.1kg. The OWC 1TB Mercury On-The-Go Pro will be released on the 15th October 2009 in three version, priced from $300 to $360 (depending on the connectivity option you choose).

Other World Computing (OWC) has updated its Mercury On-The-Go with a 750GB model. It runs at 200RPMs, featuring 8MB of cache. The FireWire models use Oxford chipsets while the USB 2.0 model boasts a JMicron bridge chipset. The OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro 750GB 5200RPM interface FireWire 800/400 & USB 2.0 model priced at $270, while the FireWire 400/USB 2.0 model is $250 and the USB 2.0-only model goes for $230. All three models come with three years warranty.

Xtreamer is going to launch a new Network-attached storage (NAS) that support up to 4TB of storage across two days. For those who purchased last year’s model by November 1st, 2009 will get the change to pre-order this model for €59 ($84) when the listing opens on that day. The priced will be increased to €99 after November 1st, 2009. And for those who don’t have the current Xtreamer model will be able to pick up both at €198.
