Hooray! Blu-Ray! Sony has released a new Blu-Ray player codenamed BDP-550. It comes in a slim and blue-faced design and offers the support for Blu-Ray 2.0 spec, Bonus View PiP, and BD-Live, and features a 1GB storage device, 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema output, 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, dts-HD High Resolution Audio, and dts-HD Master Audio decoding and bit-stream output and also the 7.1 channel analog audio output. The Sony BDP-550 Blu-Ray Player is available at $500 in the fall 2008.

LG has released their new all-in-one home theater in South Korea, the HT972TR. It has an integrated CD/DVD player and a total power of 1000W, 5 speakers with 155W and a subwoofer with 255 W. LG also put the touchscreen button like its Chocolate phone on this home theater. The HT972TR also support Full HD 1080p resolution, and comes with both HDMI and USB Plus (Music, Photo & Movie Support) ports. It says no problem to MP3 and WMA audio files, JPEG images and DivX videos, from DVD±RW, DVD±R, DVD (PAL/NTSC), CD-R and CD-RW. The system also equipped with the VSM technology (Virtual Sound Matrix/three-dimensional sound) which extends the original 5.1 to emulate a 10.1 channel configuration, giving you a better sound and video quality. Sony Japan has announced new a portable DVD player, the DVP-FX850. It comes with 8 inch display with 800 x 480 resolutions, USB port for connecting your music player and flash drive for the MP3 playback and also the Jpeg and it support playback for DVD±R/RW and DVD±R DL discs. The LCD display is mounted on a dual axis system, it can be 180 degree rotated. Other features include a remote control, AV out, headphone terminal and a built in speaker. It measures 226×165×32mm and weighs 1.05 kg. The Sony DVP-FX850 will be available in Japan this coming May the 1st for 35,000 Yen which is around 300 bucks.

Sharp has comes out with a Blu-ray recorder, the BD-HP1 Blu-Ray recorder. With this, you can do playback for your Blu-Ray (single / dual layer) along with DVD±R/RW and DVD-RAM discs. This BD-HP1 only supports single sided discs for burning. It comes with a 7.1 channel analog output, HDMI output, D4 port, dual i-Link ports and also includes a universal remote control Fami-Link which can let you have the ability in controlling all Sharp products. It measures 434×343×68mm and weighs 4.4 kg. Sharp AQUOS BD-HP1 will be available in Japan next month on March 10 for 150,000 Yen ($ 1240).
