Simroid the Robotic Dental Patient
|
|
Dentist training now come to more advanced. The novice dentists will soon get the practice on Simroid, a robotic dental patient. Simroid was shown at the 2007 International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo. The bot can follow spoken instruction, closely monitor a dentist’s performance during mock treatments, and react in a human-like way to mouth pain. This is going to help dental trainees learn how to communicate with the patients. One more cool stuff about this bot will be sensors, she can simulate a gagging reflex incase the dentist inserts the dental instruments too far into her mouth.

Exoskeleton Turns Humans Into Terminators

This is a wearable robot suit developed by SARCOS. It fits around your body like an exoskeleton and this will enable soldiers to easily lift up 200-pound weights, missiles and more. RC Steam Powered Centipede

18-Foot Transformer Bumblebee in Los Angeles
|
|
You have seen the Transformer X2 in China. Now, meet the real one at the West Hollywood Gateway shopping center, the 18-feet and 8,200 pounds Bumbleblee. The robot was set up by a forklift and a ten-ton crane. Bumblebee will be standing guard there till Sunday, October 21st. Full-sized Transformer X2
|
|
Looks like Transformer fever is not over yet. In China, Nanjing, three friends have spent three months to build a 4.5 meter tall Transformer X2 from a Citroen C2. No, they didn’t sacrifice any car for this. This robot is build from scratch except the headlights and wheels. This whole thing cost them around $8,000 to build. Unfortunately, X2 don’t transform. Robot Suit for the Elderly
|

Japan’s Kanagawa Institute of Technology has developed an Air Pressure Robot Suit for the elderly. With this, old people don’t need a wheelchair anymore as it can lift up as heavy as 100 kilos. This suit is only made to order and generally targeted at nursing homes and hospitals.

Bertie the Pipebot

Bertie the Pipebot is a character drawn by Ashley Wood. He is an Australian painter and comic artist. Ashley has produced a 14-inch tall version of his trademark robot. It is made by an independent toy design studio, Bigshot Toyworks.

LittleDog
|
|
LittleDog is a four legs robot from Boston. Each of the legs is powered by three electric motors. The motors are strong enough for dynamic locomotion, including climbing. LittleDog’s sensors measure joint angles, motor currents, body orientation and foot/ground contact. Watch the demonstration after the jump.
