The R/C tortoise
|

Guys at Crabfu.com have come out with an R/C tortoise “bot” with direct control, using a 4 channel radio system. The bot was built with 4 sub micro servos, and each axis of the transmitter stick controls a servo. Pictures and video available after the break.

Sega EMA Robot
|
|
Sega Toys has released a new robot toy called Ema which stands for Eternal Maiden Actualization. It can sing, it can dance and it can walk like a lady. The best of all, it can kiss you, wow. Infrared sensors were employed to avoid obstacle, and moves its elbows, shoulders, waist, and knees. It will be available in Japan in September 26th with a price tag of around 110€ ($175).

iPhone-controlled Plant Watering System
|

A guy called Peter has made a robotic plant watering system that uses the iPhone to take the directions. When Safari’s screen rotate from horizontal to vertical, it will send a status update to a web server via JavaScript that sets the watering can up or down. Video after the break.

MIT Media Lab developed the Nexi robot
|
|
MIT Media Lab has developed a new bot called the Nexi, an MDS (“Mobile/Dexterous/Social”) robot which have the humanoid moves, sound and look. It is able to carry object up to 10 pounds. Video after the break.

Bandai Tachikoma Robot
|

Ha! Bandai has officially released the Tachikoma robot. It is made from metal, when plugged to your USB port it reacts in different ways with its eyes, lights and speakers. There are several modes and mini games for you to choose from. It will alert you whenever there’s an incoming email. You will need to install the companion software in order to make it alive and it requires Japanese OS to install or an English PC with Japanese support. It’s available now for €133. ABSOLUT QUARTET - automated multi-instrumental orchestral machine
|

Dan Paluska and Jeff Lieberman have created the ABSOLUT QUARTET, an automated multi-instrumental orchestral machine. This large-scale electromechanical sculpture consists of three instruments and thousands of parts to create music. The main timbre is a marimba played by balls shot from the robotic canon, other components which include a series of wineglasses played by little robotic fingers and an array of robotic percussive instruments”.
