KDDI’s Mobile in Forest Exhibition

Japan’s AU KDDI, a major cellular player in the Eastern world has launched the “art meets innovation show” in Harajuku, Japan called the Mobile in Forest Exhibition where you can see various artists’ art works - innovative representations of the cell phone. From picture you see that there a polyurethane rubber “socket-deer” and also “HOLDING BEAR CHARGER” allowing you to recharge your phone in style, I’m sure the bear is a male. LOL. Do I get to see Harajuku girls there?

Abilene Christian University freshmen receive iPhone
|

The girl above is happy because she received an Apple iPhone from the university. Abilene Christian University has decided to provide all the 2008 incoming freshmen an Apple iPhone. They have added 15 web apps for their students that allow them to ~ locate professors’ offices, answer in-class surveys, check meal ticket balance, take quizzes, check grades, check schedules etc.
ACU says:
“We are not merely providing cutting-edge technology tools to our incoming students. We are also providing the web applications that ensure these tools will become critical to the students’ learning experience. Because 93 percent of ACU students bring their own computers with them to college, we are choosing to take them to the next level by providing converged mobile devices.”

Spain football team won the Euro 2008!
|
|
I lost to my friend for the beer bet, I said it yesterday Germany is going to beat Spain by 1-0. Lol. It goes opposite, there are thousands of euphoric Spanish fans are celebrating in Madrid after their football team won Euro 2008, beating Germany 1-0 in the final. This is the second time Spain winning the European championship after 44 years. The last won was in 1964 with victory over the former USSR.

Bill Gates said a teary goodbye to Microsoft
|

Bill Gates logs off at Microsoft on Friday with a teary goodbye. He is the one who built the valuable technology company based on the ambitious goal of placing a computer on every desk and in every home. He stepped away from his full-time executive role at Microsoft to focus on his philanthropic organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest charity. However, he will still work part-time, joining Chief Executive Steve Ballmer on stage to deliver a short speech and field questions from employees.

Burger King Launches World’s Most Expensive Hamburger
|

Check out the world’s most expensive burger from Burger King, called simply “The Burger”. It was launched on the Wednesday, priced at $200. The burger is made of fine ingredients include Wagyu beef, white truffles, Pata Negra ham slices, Cristal onion straws, Modena balsamic vinegar, lambs lettuce, pink Himalayan rock salt, organic white wine and shallot infused mayonnaise in an Iranian saffron and white truffle dusted bun. All the proceeds from The Burger sales will be donated to the Help A London Child charity, which assists young people experiencing abuse, homelessness, disability, poverty and illness. “The Burger” is available at just one restaurant in West London, England, once a week but it will eventually be available to order via a hotline.

Toyota or Toy Yoda?
|

Alright this is some old news to share with you guys. In 2001, Jodee Berry of Panama City, Fla., sits with her toy Yoda at her lawyer’s office. Story goes like this, Berry the former Hooters restaurant waitress, was promised a new Toyota for winning a beer sales contest. Berry was blindfolded led to the restaurant’s parking lot and received her award, instead of Toyota, she was awarded with Toy Yoda (the little green dude from Star Wars).

No Facebook No Work

Are you into Facebook? Buying friends was fun, some you can live chat with your friends in there. Most importantly is to keep in touch with all friends, schoolmates etc. According to latest survey, many young people aged from 18 to 24 year old would consider quitting their jobs if their management banned the Facebook access at work. Wow!
About 39% fall in this category say IT services provider Telindus. Another 21% said they’d feel “annoyed” by such a ban. 16% of the people in the age group of 25 to 65 would consider quitting.

A man gone crazy and killed 7 people in Tokyo street
|

Shocking news, a 25 year old man Tomohiro Kato drove a rented truck into a crowd in the early afternoon and then began stabbing people at random. He said he was tired of life and he came to Akihabara to kill people. He killed seven people with knife and injured 10 others and was arrested by the police at the scene. The dead include six men, ranging in age from 19 to 74, and a 21-year-old woman, Kyodo News said. That’s really crazy. Video after the break.

Malaysia’s Pirated DVD Sniffler Dog dies
|

Alright, remember the DVD Sniffler Dogs in Malaysia? The dogs that have been trained to sniff out pirated discs. One of them which called Manny has been found dead in the undisclosed location where it was kept, a report said Sunday. Manny’s body was sent to University Putra Malaysia for a post-mortem. “He had not started work yet so I doubt that there was anyone who wanted to harm him,” said Roslan Mahayuddin, the enforcement director of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

15-Year-Old Girl sold 17,323 Boxes of Girl Scout Cookies

Make a goal, don’t give up on it, and you will achieved it one day that’s what Jennifer Sharpe said and that’s true! Jennifer Sharpe is a 15-year-old girl who has sold 17,328 boxes of Girl Scout cookies by setting up shop on a street corner. Today, the Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit is honoring Jennifer for her record-breaking sales at a ceremony in Livonia.
“Make a goal, and don’t give up on it. Keep working for it, and one of these days, you’ll hit it,” she advised aspiring sellers. “When I was in third grade, the top seller was 10,176. … I turned to my mother and said, ‘That’s going to be me one day,’ and it took me seven years,” she said.
