Wow cool!!! Ben Heck has mod the PS3 Slim into laptop style. He added a big 17-inch Gateway 1775W screen (1280 x 720 resolution) and there’s storage nook for power cord, slot-loading Blu-ray and an Iron Man Arc reactor-inspired fan grill. It looks like the PS3 Slim is slower than the bulky PS3. There are several comparison videos uploaded to Youtube comparing the start up, DVD, game loading etc. But the game loading seems like the PS3 Slim is faster, it doesn’t include the Spider-Man font splash screen.

“It makes little sense that the new unit would have a different, slightly underpowered motherboard, so the rumor is that the two configurations might have different hard drives. The maker of the comparison claims both consoles use the same hard drive. It could also be a firmware issue.”

Wow! They go really fast, I haven’t seen touch it yet. ifixit has disassembled the new PS3 Slim. Surprisingly, Sony built a huge fan inside the PS3 slim.

“The ~95 mm diameter 17 blade impeller was definitely designed with quiet in mind. It is extremely stiff and presumably made of ABS plastic.”

Huh! That’s real! Sony has finally released its new PS3 Slim. Slimmer! 33% smaller, 36% lighter and using 34% less power. Priced at $300 in September which is 100 bucks cheaper than the current Fat PS3. It comes with 120GB HDD for storing games, music, videos, and photos, built-in Wi-Fi and Blu-ray player and two USB ports. It also has the BRAVIA Sync feature that lets you control the PS3’s XMB with your Sony TV remote when they are connected using HDMI and the TV will auto turn off the PS3 when the TV goes off. There are rumors around regarding the PS3 Slim. And today, it hits on the Chinese news board, so erm… is this the one? First, no more spiderman font, second worry no more scratches as glossy and shiny surface are taken off, and last the word “PLAYSTATION 3” has been short-formed to PS3.
