Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray arrives on our shores with an RRP of RM 1,199 (USD 380)

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is somewhat a replacement for the aging Xperia X10 Mini, as they share similar size, and it’s now available at retailers nationwide with an RRP of just RM 1,199.

Specification wise, the Xperia Ray is very modest for its price range. The 3.3-inch Android 2.3 smartphone has a unique screen which Sony Ericsson calls it the Reality Display. The phone is powered by a 1GHz MSM8255 Scorpion CPU, with 512MB of internal memory. Internal storage is rather measly though, at only 300MB of usable storage, though you can actually expand that with microSD up to 32GB.

The Xperia Ray comes with an 8-Megapixel camera that’s capable of recording videos at 720P. The lens used here is a rather decent sensor, which is Sony’s Exmor R mobile CMOS sensor, with an aperture of up to f/2.4.

Connectivity wise, the phone comes with GSM and HSDPA of up to 7.2Mbps, but HSPA+ is not included, which is to be expected from a phone in this price range. Still, we predict that this will be a good seller in our market.
