Buffalo SSD-N256S/MC400 256GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive

There’s a new player in town for the SSD market, as Buffalo has just unveiled their first SSD to the Japanese market. Things will be getting crowded from here on. The model here is SSD-N256S/MC400, which is a 256GB MLC Solid State Drive. Thought it’s stated to be 256GB, but usable space should be about 239GB, which makes them similar to those 240GB SSD in the market.
The drive is said to be able to provide up to 405MB/s of data transfer rate (reading speed), which is almost on par with those OCZ Vertex 3 SSD drive that is said to be using the latest SandForce SF-1200 NAND controller. What’s more, the The Buffalo SSD-N256S/MC400 is also a 6Gbps SSD, so we strongly believe that this new SSD is using the latest SF-1200 controller.
The Buffalo SSD-N256S/MC400 256GB SSD will be released in Japan later this week for 72,200 Yen or around $883.
