Sony’s own site hosting phishing site, now taken down

Sony has been having lots of problems in this year, starting with the battle with Geo Hotz, and then being targeted by Anonymous which stands on Geo Hotz’s side. Earlier this month we see their PSN online system being taken down due to a breach by unknown hackers that may have obtained all information of PSN users. Now, the website of Sony is hosting phishing items that might be scams.
F-Secure reported that they found a phishing site running under hdworld.sony.co.th. Sony’s website should be all about Sony’s products right? What’s more the prefix ‘hdworld’ should be related to Sony’s HDTV products. However, the site is instead showing something from an Italian credit card company. The lady looks so happy to scam you… do you want to eat the bait?
This clearly means that Sony’s website and server has been hacked, although this should not be linked to the PSN issue. Sony has been notified, and the site is already taken down. The URL now leads to a legit Sony site.
In related news, a new phishing campaign has been working the round in the Twitter universe, telling people to reset their PSN password.
