8 Core Intel Sandy Bridge-E ‘ES’ processor shown up on eBay, taken down shortly

What is this I don’t even? Previously it was mentioned that Intel’s Sandy Bridge-E may not include any 8-core processors, well at least not this early. But now a purported 8-core, hyper-threaded Sandy Bridge-E prototype has shown up on eBay shortly. This processor here is apparently a third party tester unit, hence stamped with “Intel Confidential” and the letter “ES” which means “Engineering Sample”. Not surprisingly, the sale has been shut down prematurely. Whether it was pulled by the seller or at the strong urging of Intel will have to remain a mystery for now. Still, if this deal here is real, then we might actually see a very imba 8-core 16-thread consumer processor in the near future of LGA2011 platform!
