TrendNet announce world’s first 450Mbps dual-band WiFi adapter, Belkin sees jealously

These days every laptops sold in the world will most probably, no, will most definitely come with a wireless radio (802.11n for most of the latest model). However, even when your laptop comes with WiFi-N connectivity doesn’t mean it will fully stream your broadband needs in the full 300Mbps speeds. Most of them can barely reach the 150Mbps speed. If you’re a hardcore video streamer, then you’ll need something even more powerful, provided your internet speed is as fast as it is.

TrendNet has just announced the first USB adapter that promises to boost your throughput to speeds as high as 450 Mbps (thanks to MIMO technology) — a mighty boost over the 54Mbps or 150Mbps rates you might be used to. As a dual-band adapter, it’ll connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz networks. What’s more, its design makes it even more versatile, as you can place your ‘antenna’ at better locations as there are cables to extend it.

For $80, I think this is a rather good investment for those streaming Full HD videos to their HTPC in the living room. Well, they didn’t say that you must use this on a laptop, did they?
