World’s highest-altitude rave party that started with a tweet

April 8th, 2011

Here’s a ‘cool story bro’ that deserves two thumbs up from every hippies out there. KLM, the Dutch airline, had announced that their first direct flight from Amsterdam to Miami will begin at the end of March. Now, as soon as Dutch DJ Sied van Riel and producer Wilco Jung caught wind of this, they tweeted KLM to ask them to bring the first flight forward a week so that the pair could attend a music festival in Miami using KLM without any transit. And how did KLM respond?

Instead of rejecting two layman’s request, or just simply accept and push forward in hopes to have more customers taking this chance (Miami Music Festival) to aboard their flight with KLM, they instead told the pair that if they could fill a plane up, the company would move that flight forward.

And who knows, within hours of the call to arms, the plan was filled to the brim with a mix of local media, bloggers, dance music fans, and industry people on their way to Miami. Naturally, they busted out the decks and a sound system, getting the Guinness record for the highest altitude dance party.

Now that’s how we party, Rebecca! FUN FUN FUN! Dato Tony Fernandes, interested in breaking this record?
