Team Fortress 2 gamers donated over $300,000 for Japan disaster relief fund
March 30th, 2011
Remember last week game developer Valve made three new hats up for sale in Team Fortress 2 for the good cause of helping Japan? Well, it seems that gamers of Team Fortress 2 are a bunch of rich-ass kids. Days after the event goes live, Valve had already racked up more than $300,000 with no sweat for this charity event. Hopefully this won’t give Valve any funny idea! SOURCE via Team Fortress Droid X and Droid 2 get some Gingerbread to mince

Good news for Android users, and owners of Motorola Droidphones, you’re now given an unholy chance to have Gingerbread on your phone. Yes, the unholy and unofficial method introduced by ‘My Droid World’. Hopefully we’ll get to see more phones transcend into Gingerbread by this year. Gingerbread brings you the new blue Blur, a customizable dock, an app management shortcut, an overhauled camera app, and super-fast navigation speeds, among other things. So for you eager beavers who just can’t wait for an official release, follow the source links below and feed your Droid some Gingerbread. Meet the final boss of ‘Attack of the Balls’, Quadrocopter

Here’s the new Quadrocopter developed by the Zurich-based mad scientists, possibly working for Skynet. What’s cool about these ROFL-copters are that they don’t just fly, but they jiggle balls, because the mad scientists played too much Pong game. Intel rolls out third-generation SSD 320 Series drives
March 29th, 2011
Intel’s venerable X-25M series SSDs started the kick for SSD market, and now it’ll be succeeded by the next generation of ‘highly acclaimed’ NAND from Intel, called the new SSD 320 Series. These NANDs are the new 25nm Intel NAND flash memory, and ranges from 40GB to 160GB for typical users like me and you, unless you’re some high profiler from the corporate sector that needs more capacity, and then there are the 300GB and 600GB models, which might kill the wallet of typical Joes and Jane, despite Intel claiming that these new drives are about 30-percent cheaper than the previous generation. For your info, the new SSD 320 Series drives are priced from just $89 for 40GB to $1,069 for that 600GB drive. Head over to Anand’s site for the early review at the link below. March 29th, 2011
Lamborghini has delivered one of the first of its latest Aventador supercars to a dealership in Berlin recently, blocking traffic and generating quite a crowd on a busy street while they drive the new supercar into the showroom. The real thing looks more striking than in picture, and the new Aventador seem to be a very fierce raging bull, even when idling, a car that I can only dream of having. Acer Iconia Tab A500 coming soon, prices start at RM 1,599
March 29th, 2011
Acer has officially launched the Iconia Tab A500 over at Malaysia. The A500 is the Windows version of the tablet, and for the Android 3.0 version A500, Acer will be launching it shortly after. Report from Lowyat.NET says that the Honeycomb preloaded into the A500 is not running smoothly at times, although apps are running fine, which might explain the delay of the A500 Android version. The 10.1-inch Iconia Tab A500 tablet is a Windows tablet running on Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC with 1GB of memory and 16GB of storage capacity. The tablet has a resolution of 1280 x 800 which is similar to Motorola Xoom. There’s a 5-Megapixel back camera that supports HD video recording, but no front camera seen. Of course, port wise there’s the usual micro USB and HDMI-D which will let you plug directly to your HDTV. Battery life is expected to be 8-hours. The A500 is made of unibody aluminum, but is much thicker than the iPad. The back is said to be rather slippery due to the material used and the weight of the tablet. Hopefully a case will solve this issue and not make the tablet too bulky. The A500 Iconia tablet is said to retail from RM 1,599 ($529, WiFi-only model) to RM 1,999 ($659, 3G model). Acer also gave Lowyat.NET a sneak peak of the 7-inch version Iconia tablet and a 4.6-inch smartphone prototype. There’s not much info given here, other than the 7-inch will retail from RM 1,099 to RM 1,499 ($360 – $499). SOURCE via Lowyat.NET Apple WWDC 2011 date announce, no iPhone announcement this time?
March 29th, 2011
Apple Inc. has announced their Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC 2011) date for this year, and that is 6 of June. There’s also the tagline here that says “Join us for a preview of the future of iOS and Mac OS X.” As you can see, the tagline is carefully crafted, and doesn’t suggest at all that Apple will be announcing any new hardware. According to Jim Dalrymple from the Loop, his source says that Apple will not announce any new hardware at the event, possibly pushing the release of the next iPhone back. Traditionally, Apple unveils the newest iPhone every June at WWDC, along with new iPod Touches in September and new iPads in March, but if this news is true, then Apple’s iOS product launch schedule will be irrelevant to consumers. Will we still see a new iPhone this summer, or is Apple pushing it closer to the Christmas holiday season? Let’s hope that the famous “one last thing” will turn the tide for us. SOURCE via The Loop |
