Can sound tear books to tiny pieces?

It’s already crazy enough that some people install more than 2 woofers in their cars, but there are people that are even crazy to want to destroy things with their car’s woofer. Steve Meade Designs is a custom car audio shop that specializes in the kind of audio systems that require 10 batteries and three alternators to run; you know where this is going. This clip features Meade’s own 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, and its compliment of four 18-inch subwoofers, backed by a total of 13 amps and 26 smaller speakers, including 10 6.5-inch mids, and 10 one-inch tweeters. Want to know what they can do besides singing?

iPad 2 gets wireless 1080p mirroring, AirPlay? Meh!

March 31st, 2011

Apple’s AirPlay is awesome for being wireless, but it only works with so few apps, and max out at 720P, which is so 2008. How about using Apple’s HDMI cable for your iPad? No way, wired? That’s even 2006! One adventurous MacRumors Forums member was able to MacGyver a completely wire-free, completely HD solution using a wireless HDMI transmitter, USB battery pack, and a home-made enclosure that “only adds about two pounds of weight” to the otherwise portable device. Seems easy enough to put together on your own, but here’s to hoping there’s a Jailbreak solution soon enough that makes the same magic happen without the extra heft (and coin) in the first place. It’s really fat, and that makes the iPad pointless!

Swivel toolboxes

Swivel toolboxes

When someone mentioned a tool box, you’ll visualize it as a bulky square box, possibly very big and heavy. But not this one, the Swivel tool box that is going to hit the market. This 60-inch tool storage system contains rounded, high-strength drawers that swivel out so its owner can better-access his or her equipment. When we mentioned “high-strength”, we’re actually referring about 2-, 14- or 16-gauge steel, and the drawers are reportedly tough enough that most humans can stand on them without breaking anything.

If you’ve ever owned a tool box, especially the low-end models, you know that the tracks get gummed up over time, making it more and more difficult to slide drawers open or closed. The drawers of the Swivel bench are hinged at a steel pole that is reportedly resistant to dust.

And how much would this “heavy duty” tool box cost you? Between $1,000 and $5,000; a total that puts the Swivel bench squarely in the professional grade category. That’s probably a bit rich for our blood, but it won’t keep us from wanting one.

Russian drifters slide around Moscow city like drunken snakes

Russian drifters slide around Moscow city like drunken snakes

The drifting culture started in Japan and has quickly spread around the world. It’s not the fastest method to tackle corners, but it’s an art to slide sideways around bends and bends making the car moves fluidly. Of course, the tires suffer a lot from that.

Drifting is not only found in Asia, as recently there’s a Formula Drift in Abu Dhabi. Even in the furthest country at the top of the globe, drifting also exist in Russia. As an aside, if you search for “russian drifting” on Google, the first few links are for monitoring ice flows.

Pair of sideways-driving enthusiasts has taken to the Moscow streets with their rubber-destroying machines to prove that drifting is alive and well in Russia. Shot in high-definition, this is no shaky Flip cam-shot clip but rather a surprisingly well done video of two drivers taking control of their cars. Check it out by clicking past the jump.

Ideum MT55 HD Multitouch Table

Your touchscreen smartphone and tablets with sizes from 3-inch to 10-inch is not cool. What’s cool is interacting with a touchscreen tablet the size of 55-inch like how the Secret Service of British have in Quantum of Solace, and it seemed that such technology is already very close to us.

TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept Watch

March 30th, 2011

TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept Watch

TAG Heuer is no stranger when it comes to luxurious watch, but they’re also famous for very high-tech watch that’s not only for show, but has the technology to back up the price tag that they’re asking for. Here’s a new watch from TAG Heuer if you’re looking for one. The TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000 concept watch is known as the first mechanical chronograph to achieve 1/100 accuracy and a speed of 500Hz. Set to debut later this week at Basal, the timepiece features a highly modern design with an innovative case system made of black titanium carbide and silver titanium horns. As this model is currently a concept watch, there is no word on when it will go into production, and how much, but I’m sure it’s going to be quite sky high.
