We’ve heard of rumours that Microsoft will be unveiling their next Windows, called the Windows 8, in summer this year. Not only that, but this new Windows will be heading into multiple platforms due to emphasis on touchscreen device and touch-centric UI. However, Bloomberg’s anonymous sources report that Microsoft won’t release a tablet operating system until the 2012 back-to-school season, and will only begin to test the OS at the end of this year. There’s no telling how trustworthy this source is, because Dell already has a Windows 8 slate scheduled for launch in January of 2012, and it’s hard to imagine Microsoft letting Apple’s iPads replace textbooks entirely at schools, and having all the cash to them, without Microsoft doing a single thing to it.
