No more late night raid for gamers in Vietnam

Come March 3, and nerd heads and online gamers in Vietnam might start thinking about migrating away from that country. Well, if you’re not a very nerdy online gamer, then this news would just be a laughing stock. iPad 2 rumors continue despite March 2 coming close

March 2 is coming near, and still people just couldn’t wait until then. So here we are again, with rumors of the next iPad. Obviously the iPad will have a speed bump thanks to the new A5 processor, and it’s been confirmed by a source telling Engadget that it’s going to be thinner than the current iPad. But there are a few things that are going to be of surprise for everyone. The Motorola Xoom has a resolution of 1280 x 800 making it a 16:10 widescreen view, but the current iPad only has 1024 x 768 resolutions, which is a very old 4:3 square screen. Read more…

Android 2.3.3 has WebM support

Now this may not be a big deal after all, but for some it has its usage. Google has been pushing WebM as the new video format standard, though not strongly. Now it seemed that they’re making an effort to have WebM in a wider range, as Google adds WebM support into their mobile OS Android, more specifically Android 2.3.3. Google has already demonstrated its intention to brute-force this format into our lives, which we’ll be quite happy to accept just as soon as Gingerbread starts appearing on more devices. Work harder Google, we’re waiting!

Microsoft pulls Windows Phone 7 update from Samsung phones until it can resolve issues

Sad day for Microsoft, as their journey for Windows Phone 7 has been hit hard by a few of Samsung’s Windows Phone 7 handsets. We’ve previously come to know that the first ever update for Windows Phone 7 over the air is causing some issues to Samsung’s phone, and the company has wisely decided to pull the new software back until it can correct whatever’s going wrong. An official communiqué to WinRumors says Microsoft has identified the issue at hand and is working to correct it and redistribute the update as soon as possible. For any Samsung WP7 phone owners who haven’t been able to resuscitate their device yet, the advised course of action is to go back to the store and swap it for a livelier one. If you’re still seeing the update notification, you’re advised to hold off.

8.9-inch model Samsung Galaxy Tab coming in summer, because they can

Previously Samsung went the 7-inch way, and was treated as a mini-iPad for its size. Now that Samsung has the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, we know that it’s going to compete head-to-head with the next iPad. But now, a very tiny surprise news came from the Korean Yonhap News Agency. Apparently a Samsung company spokesman talked to the reputable news site over the phone, and mentioned that Samsung has an 8.9-inch Android tablet due in the first half of the year. Yonhap also notes local media reports claiming that the tablet could be for sale as early as next month. We first heard about Samsung’s plans for 7-, 8-, and 10-inch tablets way back in June — long before the 7-inch Galaxy Tab was announced. Now, with the 10.1-incher official, there’s no reason to doubt an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab by summer. But why in the world is Samsung preparing an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab? Nobody knows. Probably to conquer all.

Toyota to start selling home battery chargers in 2012

Toyota to start selling home battery chargers in 2012

Hybrid and electric cars have been the latest trend in automotive, but many are still skeptical about them. Battery lifespan and durability, troublesome charging and long hours charging; besides the efficiency of hybrid and electric cars, have become a boundary to potential owners. There’s also another option of going for clean diesel cars like the BMW 320d, which gives better low-end torque and better fuel consumption compared to old school fuel guzzling direct injection cars.

However, now hybrid and electric cars are becoming a good choice if you’re a tree hugger and don’t mind the missing of V6 and V8 engine sounds. Car manufacturers have improved charging time, and also provide long warranty for the battery pack to ensure that they’re lasting and safe to use. Now Toyota is going a step further by providing home battery chargers starting in 2012 so that buyers of PHEV Prii can fully take advantage of that plug in the front fender. I think that car manufacturers should’ve done this since the beginning. Read more…
