Patriot Wildfire SSD with SandForce SF-2200 Processor blasts everything away

SandForce’s new SF-2200 SSD controller has been a very strong contender in the SSD market, and now Patriot has picked it up for their new Wildfire SSD, making it the second SSD to use this NAND controller in the market besides OCZ Vertex 3.

According to SandForce, this processor enables the drive to provide 500MB/s sequential read and write speeds, making the SATA 6GB/s interface finally useful. The SandForce SF-2200 processor also offers AES-256 and 128 data encryption, integrated enhanced DuraClass Technology, ECC Recovery and Native Command Queuing (up to 32 commands). The Patriot Wildfire SSD series also feature a standard 2.5-inch form factor for compatibility with notebooks and desktops.

Available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB of storage capacities, the Patriot Wildfire will be released in Q2 2011, about the same time as OCZ’s Vertex 3. Each purchase also comes equipped with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket for compatibility with standard hard drive mounting, which should be handy to some.
