Online Game claims another life in China

Online gaming obsession is quite deadly, especially when you’re so obsessed with it that besides eating and sleeping, all that you do is gaming whole day and night. I’ve been there, done that, and I’m so damn glad I’ve ridden off this curse. MMO (massively multiplayer online) games have a huge hit in China, and the numbers of people playing MMO is quite massive. However, its dark side also has a fair share of the story, and once again a life has been taken away by obsession of online games in China.
The deadliness of such addiction in China were shown yesterday, when an unidentified 30-year-old man collapsed in an internet cafe outside of Beijing following three days of nonstop online gaming. I’m not sure how you game for 24 hours nonstop, but this guy apparently played nonstop for three days, and the shop keeper didn’t even stopped him.
According to witnesses the man had been playing an online game at the internet cafe for three days, taking in little food or drink and getting absolutely no sleep whatsoever. He collapsed Monday evening, slipping into a coma. He later died at a nearby clinic. The man had apparently spent more than 10,000 yuan ($1,500) on internet gaming in the past 30 days. Online gaming is serious business in China.
Police confiscated several computers from the internet cafe, but have ruled out homicide. The exact cause of death is currently being investigated.
