RIP the sexy and elegant yet slow Dell Adamo, gone and won’t be missed

Fancy a thin and light-weight laptop device but hate to own any Apple products? Well, too bad for you because it seems like the closest device to Apple’s famous MacBook Air, the Dell Adamo, will be discontinued. Say goodbye to Dell’s ultra-thin laptops equipped with eye-catching aluminium casings and blazingly fast solid-state drives much like the MacBook Air, yet painfully slow processor.
The device was first revealed two years ago at CES with a rather hefty price tag of around USD$2,000, which is pretty ridiculous for a device at that time – something equipped with a normal performing processor and does not come with a built-in optical drive. Yes, we understand that aesthetic and fashion comes with a price, but awkward shape with brushed aluminium and no powerplant to walk the talk isn’t really going to get you anywhere Dell.
But it looks like this isn’t much of a surprise. While it’s supposed to be a MacBook Air killer, not only did it not do a good job at even coming close to the famous Apple device, the price has been dropping drastically recently. Just days before this, the Dell Adamo were being sold at a fraction of the original price, going from as low as USD$799, as Dell is clearing out their stock and ending the production of Dell Adamo completely.
Yes Dell, get back to the drawing board and draw a new MacBook Air killer with Sandy Bridge in it, then we’ll talk.
