Asus has a bunch of tablets at CES to show, but they’re not just showing typical slates with different screen sizes. This round we have a look at their two unique slates with keyboards. Yes, keyboards. Well, usually we call something that has a screen and a keyboard a laptop. But this time around, things are quite complicated.

The first is the Eee Pad Slider, which looks quite like an oversize smartphone with slide out QWERTY keyboard. The Slider is running on Google’s latest Honeycomb, and the 10.1-inch screen is of a multitouch 1280 x 800 IPS panel. There’s the dual-core Tegra 2 processor in it. There are mini-HDMI and miniUSB ports as well as a microSD card slot. There also seemed to be a USB 3.0 port. The 2.2-pound / .5-inch thick slab also has dual cameras — a 1.2 megapixel front-facing one and a 5 megapixel one with an LED flash on the back.

The other one is called a Transformer, which is quite similar to the Slider, but instead of having a slide out QWERTY, they have a detachable keyboard because some people don’t like carrying a keyboard around. It adds on the weight and size. The Transformer is essentially the same thing as the Slider actually, having Honeycomb running powered by Tegra 2, with the same 10.1-inch IPS panel that has a 1280 x 800 resolution. However, the dock has an integrated battery that will keep the tablet running for 16 hours on a charge — the tablet on its own should last eight.

Asus mentioned that they will be available very soon, around April, and costing between $400 and $800.
