Here’s a display from Samsung, which will probably not enter the mass market any time soon. Samsung is showing off this LCD TV at CES because it produces a 1080p content at 240Hz, with edge lighting only on two sides instead of the traditional 4. Samsung says that due to this the TV only uses 48-percent energy compared to existing models with LED backlighting. That’s around half the energy used, which is a good thing. At least we know that Samsung is concern about your home CE’s power consumption. This innovative prototype also managed to nab Samsung a 2011 Innovation award.
