CCTV in city help solves six crimes per day

London, the city where the graffiti ‘One Nation under CCTV’ is placed, which has 59,000 CCTVs around the city, says that the CCTVs actually help solves an average of six crimes per day. London’s Metropolitan Police has a comforting stat to share: almost six crimes a day are being resolved with the help of CCTV footage. It’s being used mainly to aid the identification of bad guys on the run, and the number of suspects identified as a result has gone up to 2,512 this year. Though, there is a bright light for criminals, as the Met confesses digital recordings aren’t kept about as long as legacy ones used to be, meaning that if you slip the dragnet once, you’ll probably be alright. Care to try?
