European Nissan Leaf gets always-on connection, lets you turn up the AC wirelessly

It might be white Christmas in UK right now, but not where I live. My car tends to get quite hot and humid after under the sun the whole day. If only I have this new Nissan Leaf, then I’ll be able to chill the cabin for a sec before I get in, you know, by using my phone when I’m still in the office. But… I’m not in Europe.
Nissan’s new electric car, the Leaf will get an always-on connection for their European model, and it’s going to be standard. No monthly fees, unlike Chevrolet Volt’s OnStar app. Telenor Connexion will be providing the wireless connectivity in UK, which will enable a mobile phone or PC to access the Carwings Data Center remotely, to check charging status and modify the car’s climate controls. In an EV the car’s heating and cooling can be two of the biggest sinks for the onboard battery packs, so this ability to get the car up or down to temp while it’s still plugged in could help you spend more kW driving and less on acclimatizing.
