This should be quite tiring to play, if you need to keep jumping to pound those gold coins out from the secret box in Super Mario, but still it’ll be very fun. The same dude that brought you Kinect Lightsaber has returned with a hack enabling you to enjoy the nostalgic Super Mario game by controlling it with only your body.
OpenKinect was used to get the motion-sensing peripheral — originally intended exclusively for use with an Xbox 360 — to communicate with his PC, while a simple NES emulator took care of bringing the 25-year old plumber to life. Let the video below explain everything.
Intel’s Sandy Bridge is right around the corner as we all know it, but somehow it seemed to have started invading the market as we speak, secretly. Intel’s Core i7-2630QM chip (notice the four digit naming compared to the older three digit naming) has made into HP’s notebook flagship lineup, the dv7. HP has updated its component list in its massive 17-inch gaming laptop to include a 2GHz quad-core CPU. Neither HP nor Intel has given any official statement on this.
HP is not the only one updating their lineups, as laptops from Gateway and Lenovo has also offered the yet unannounced part. Looks like vendors are also as eager as Intel themselves to have Sandy Bridge out to consumers. We’ll probably see more vendors have them listed soon in the coming weeks.
The latest wooden dock for your iPhone from Koostik is not a fashion thing only. The speaker dock is made of wood, and actually uses the wooden material with its natural resonance in the hardwood frame and the two machined holes on each side to boost audio like a guitar’s hollow body.
However, the dock uses natural amplification, thus you only get about four times the volume of your iPhone. Besides, the dock doesn’t charge your iPhone while playing a mini concert for you. The good thing is that it’s small, so you can probably carry it around, but I’d prefer Logitech’s dock over this. If you look the classic wood trim, then this would probably suit you. Here’s a note: this thing only works with iPhone, so it won’t play along with your iPod Touch. But they promise good quality audio as this is hand-made. Read more…
Now we know why Apple has been struggling to get the Beatles into their iTunes store, despite a 7 years hu-ha. That’s because the Beatles sells! After a week of appearing in iTunes for the first time, the Fab Four sold 2 million iTunes!
Yes, that’s about 2,000,000 Beatles songs sold in a week in US’s largest online music store. Fans (old and young) of the four dudes that revolutionize rock n roll music wasted no time in downloading their favorite tracks. Apple has announced that iTunes has seen the sale of 2,000,000 Beatles tracks and 450,000 Beatles albums in the first week of their availability. Read more…
AirPlay is a great idea from Apple, which will pretty much revolutionize your living room if you do it right. But what makes it less than epic is because it does not work with many iOS apps. However, TUAW recently discovered that a feature that allowed other apps to use AirPlay was disabled by Apple. If you insert one single line of code, AirPlay would work across all apps. That’s where a developer took it a step further.
A developer named Zone-MR took TUAW’s lead and developed AirVideoEnabler, a hack that’s available for download in Cydia (the Jailbreak app store) and brings AirPlay to the epic awesome level we all hoped Apple would have it to be. Read more…
When Nokia’s N8 entered the market, it signaled the Finnish manufacturer’s serious entry into smartphone market. However, the results were mixed. Some were very impressed by the hardware (especially the 12-Megapixel camera) but the phone was led down due to the accompanying Symbian^3 operating system that just doesn’t cut it, at least when comparing with the almighty Apple iOS and Google Android, what’s more the new kid on the block Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7. But that doesn’t seemed to stop Nokia from continuing to throw in Symbian^3 smartphones into the market, as rumored have it of a leaked video of the upcoming Nokia X7-00, which presumably is a prototype codename. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was quite epic, and somehow I felt that the movie should get extended to like five or six parts even, as three is really insufficient to tell all the stories of the middle earth. The Hobbit is supposedly a prequel to the LOTR trilogy, and JRR Tolkein didn’t manage to finish the story. Luckily, his son has penned the finishing of the story, and Peter Jackson will begin the filming next year. Read more…
Towards the end of this year, we’re seeing more and more devices featuring Samsung’s beautiful Super AMOED panels, despite Samsung claiming that they’re running short of supply for the panels, and some devices have them replaced with the Super TFT LCD, because the Samsung Mobile Display factories just couldn’t produce enough to cope with the demand. However, this issue is predicted to be solved in 2011, with SMD bringing another production facility online next year, while other competitors in Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore reported to ramp up their own AMOLED facilities in the coming years. Meanwhile, China is said to be working on its OLED supply chain as well, meaning those displays of the passive matrix variety will also be flying off of assembly lines soon. This means that we might see some sweet display panels even in China brand fake phones too.
Yes, Gran Turismo 5 was out and that’s how most people spent their Thanksgiving. After 5 years (give or take) in-development Gran Turismo 5 was finally released last week.
