Gigabyte working on premium gaming motherboard brand

All these while, Gigabyte’s motherboards are quite the gay ones, spotting blue and white colored PCB for every motherboard that they sell. But they managed to break into the somewhat ‘elite’ look group by introducing two high-end socket LGA1155 motherboards with black PCBs. That’s the upcoming P67A-UD5 and P67A-UD7 which you’ll see soon when Intel officially launches the Sandy Bridge platform. But now, there’s Gigabyte stated that they’ll be venturing into Asus’s Republic of Gamers crowd with their very own brand of high-end motherboards for enthusiasts and gamers.

Now, let’s not say that Gigabyte doesn’t do well in overclocking. They do have a formidable high-end lineup, and they’re known for their overclocking capabilities and tons of connectivity options besides other Gigabyte features, though all are very gimmicky like the rest of the crowd. So, they’re going into black PCB motherboards, and they’re already very much experienced in producing quality performance products. Now is the time to take on the next logical step, which is to build their premium motherboard brand targeting high-end gaming PC builds.
The new brand by Gigabyte will be competing neck to neck with Asus’s Republic of Gamers brand, MSI’s XPower, and probably the top notch EVGA FTW and Classified products. One of the first products is referred to as the “G1-Killer”, and all but an outline of an ATX motherboard, presumably to have black PCB. The product is said to have an MSRP of USD299, and some of the first batch products will be unveiled at the upcoming CES event held in January 2011.
