Windows Phone 7 hits 3,000 apps and games in the marketplace, new developers in the number of 15,000

Windows Phone 7 hasn’t really lifted off, as they’re just announced not too long ago. I won’t say it’s a real contender to the iOS and Android just yet, as there are still some features missing in Windows Phone 7 take makes it incomplete. But Windows Phone 7 is indeed a refreshing experience from the seas of icons in the iOS and Android handsets. Last time, success is measured by units shifted; now success is measured by the number of apps, games, and developer headcounts. This is where Steve Jobs keeps boasting about the success of their iPhones and iOS, and Google keeps on saying that they’re catching up in a bizarre number. Nokia announced just last week that they’ve attracted some 400,000 new developers over the last years. Now you see that every smartphone companies are using apps as the measuring unit.
Now, Microsoft’s new contender might be the new kid of the block, but it also wants to show off abit among the big boys of touchscreen. It has now around 15,000 Windows Phone developers “signalling their intent to bring exciting content to Windows Phone.” Enough implied manpower to push well beyond the 3,000 apps and games expected to be populating the Windows Marketplace by the end of this week. That should sound very optimistic for potential Windows Phone 7 migrators. Now, how about jailbreaking Windows Phone 7? I’m curious to see how Microsoft handles this.
