BlackBerry Bold 9780 finally official

Alright, looks like this is going to be real, very real, and very official. And it’s very near, like a week’s near. The Bold 9780 looks exactly as we expected it to (meaning not too far from the 9700 design tree), boasting an optical trackpad, QWERTY keyboard, a WebKit-based browser and a five megapixel camera. You’ll also get inbuilt 3G / WiFi, and at least on the T-Mob version, UMA / WiFi calling. Geotagging your images is a breeze courtesy of the integrated GPS module, and RIM’s also tossing in 512MB of Flash memory as well as a microSD slot. RIM stated that the 9780 will be available very soon from “various carriers around the world beginning in November,” with T-Mobile USA confirming that its version will hit on the 17th of next month for $129.99 on a two-year contract. Well, what do you expect? It’s a Bold 9700 with ‘much needed’ enhancement and a BlackBerry OS 6 anyway.

Asus’s latest mouse is a tilted round cookie

That… is a mouse. Can’t see how it clicks right? It’s more of like the Magic Mouse of Apple, but slightly round. Yes, that Asus WX-DL aluminium cookie shaped mouse is touch capacitive. Amazing right? Maybe the engineers in Asus never hold a mouse before. Well, at least you get a suite of media controls fused onto the top. This should look very unsuspicious in your living room. Right! Your best mouse for your new HTPC. It has a very amazing 1,200dpi laser sensor and 2.4GHz wireless connection, so that should do the trick. $80 and it’s all yours baby!

The world's most expensive domain goes to...

Yes, it is SEX.com! SEX.COM is set to fetch a record $13m for a domain name on Wednesday October 27th when a Californian bankruptcy court meets to decide on the deal. The domain name last changed hands in 2006 for a reported $14m in cash and shares, but it was put up for auction in July after its owner went bust. Not a surprise that it’s able to fetch such a high score though, as you can imagine the hits it’s able to get. Read more…

Elecom's rotating USB memory card reader can spin!

Yes, most notebooks these days will come with a built-in memory card reader, but not all. What’s more if you have a legacy notebook? It’s still not a very good substitute for your card reader, but it’s still better than those China-brand card readers that have a 50-percent defect rate. Elecom’s new MR-C25 Series USB memory card reader might just be your best choice out there. Read more…

Asus’s Android tablet EP101TC will have Tegra 2, coming March 2011?

DigiTimes carry news that Asus’s 10-inch Eee Pad, specifically the Android powered EP101TC which is supposed to cost less than $399, will hit stores next year in March. They will also have Tegra 2 chips onboard. Besides Asus, joining in the march will be Dell, Samsung, MSI, and Toshiba in addition to smartphones from ASUS, Motorola, and LG. Yes, smartphones running Tegra 2 chips. Abit late though, as Tegra 2 has been hyped up for such a long time, yet we can barely see any products having them embedded inside. Hopefully these tablets won’t let us down.

Yamaha PDX-31 iPod speaker dock is super delicious, and sounds good too

Well, the world’s already packed with iPod sound system, but I really don’t mind to have another option, especially if it’s from Yamaha. Their latest PDX-31 just looks so gorgeous. Aside from reminding us of the gorgeous Oregon shoreline, this here speaker dock handles iPods and iPhones with a 30-pin Dock Connector, ships in a trio of hues (dark red, black and light gray) and offers up an auxiliary input for those other media players. It also houses a pair of 3.25-inch speakers, dual wall construction and arrives with a bundled remote for good measure. It’ll carry an MSRP of $169.95, but would you even care about the price? It just looks so sexy! And it’s a Yamaha, so you can’t go wrong.

Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 RC goes public, final around the corner

Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 RC goes public, final around the corner

It’s been rather quiet since the last news, but Microsoft has finally announced today the Release Candidate (RC) for their Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to the public. What does that mean? Well, simple. The final is just around the corner. A month or so if we go by the usual. As previously announced, the only new features added to the SP1 are the Windows Server 2008 R2-related virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX, and while Windows 7 SP1 will enable PCs to take advantage of these server-based features to provide a more scalable and richer VDI experience for end users, there are no additional new features specific to Windows 7. I don’t really recommend downloading it, if you’re a typical user, as beta usually will come with a bug or few, despite being heavily tested. But if you’re the adventurous type, there’s no harm in hitting the source. Seriously, the service pack doesn’t do much to commoners.
