Mythbusters busting the motorcycle tablecloth trick

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, these two names would most commonly be associated with their Mythbusters show. And yes, they bust myths. This time around, it includes a bike! A very very powerful bike indeed.

The ground is simple this time around: Can a near-200-horsepower motorcycle muster up enough acceleration from a dead stop to pull the tablecloth from under 24 full place settings without sending them all toppling to the ground? And if not, what would it require to make that feat a reality? Well, let’s find out.

Instead of using the German machine, Jamie pressed his very own Erik Buell Racing 1125R. Obviously, this machine is very much capable of handling the task. Or does it? You’ll just have to click on past the break for the three-part video series to see what we mean. Read more…

Nintendo posts half-year net loss, a first in seven years

In the six months leading up to September 30, 2009, Nintendo sold 11.7 million DS units worldwide. In the six months leading up to September 30, 2010, that figure has dropped by nearly half, to 6.69 million. That’s still a lot, but it’s not looking good at the portfolio of the company.

Woman Kills Baby For Interrupting Farmville Session

Woman Kills Baby For Interrupting Farmville Session

Right, the world is already messed up when we have a father raping a new born. So, I shall report this news in a simple tone and no personal input. A 22 year-old young mother from Jacksonsville, Florida has pleaded guilty to killing her own baby son over a game at Facebook.

Alexandra V. Tobias was busy playing her Facebook game, while her three-month old child, Dylan Lee Edmondson, had been crying nonstop. Tobias got angered by the annoying cry of her baby, and apparently shook the baby (presumably very hard), had a cigarette to calm herself down, and then shook him again. It’s believed he “may have hit his head during the shaking”.

Dylan’s death was classified as second-degree murder, a charge that carries the possibility of a life sentence in prison. Anger management class should be included.

StarCraft Legal Battle over TV Broadcast Rights Brewing in Korea

Ever since StarCraft II was released, it turned out to be the most talked about game among my friends. Well, StarCraft II is already the most talked about game even before it was launched. That’s how popular it is. You and your friends might play a lot of StarCraft II (or not), but you sure don’t know how popular they are in Korea. When a StarCraft player goes to Korea, he does not ‘visit’ Korea, he’s only heading home. That’s because StarCraft is so popular, that it’s their national sports game, and they even had a team in their national service. Now, there’s a problem with it in Korea. You see, the Korean TV networks want it so badly to be aired on their channel that a legal battle with Blizzard Entertainment could be heating up. Read more…

Oakley's 3D specs just got Tron-ed

Yes, 3D glasses are starting to become a fashionable item for those decent-income crowds, so that they will look ‘in’ when going for the next Hollywood hyped-up 3D blockbuster. But when you throw in a ‘special edition’ tag to your 3D glasses, you’re back at square one. Expensive and barely luxurious, like overpriced cars with ‘special edition’ tag due to some cheap body kit and a spoiler. Read more…

Nikon debuts Android-powered stereoscopic picture frame, 2D to 3D conversions for a monthly fee

Digital Photo Frames are getting common these days, so how do Nikon out do themselves to get apart from rivals like Sony and Samsung? Easy, just throw in an Android, and loan them out instead of selling them. Nikon Corp and Nikon Imaging Japan Inc. will provide a service of converting a 2D picture into a 3D picture and displaying it on a digital photo frame viewable with the naked eye. Dubbed as “my Picturetown 3D”, the service will be launched in early December 2010 in Japan. Read more…
