Limewire ordered to seize 'all functionality', dooms day for the lime?

Frankly speaking, I didn’t know anybody is still using Limewire. But well, I don’t think anybody will have the chance to use it anymore in the very near future. . The RIAA has been involved in a legal battle against popular P2P client Limewire for years now and back in June it finally achieved what it originally wanted.

A federal court found that the Lime Group, which maintains and distributes the software, did not take “meaningful efforts to mitigate infringement.” Now, they’ve issued an orderfor the Lime Group to disable “the searching, downloading, uploading, file trading and/or file distribution functionality, and/or all functionality.” Well, that pretty much translates to ‘shut down’. There’s no mention of a deadline though. Oddly, a Lime Group representative indicated a desire to move forward and work with the record labels. Very optimistic, and that’s a good thing in these kinds of situation, but don’t cha think it’s kind of hopeless altogether?
