Apple launch new iLife 11 with lots of social network integration

Woot, the “Back to the Mac” event really is all about Mac and software. Steve has just announced iLife 11, and yes all the iMovies and iPhotos and GarageBand will have a suffix of the 11, just good to go to welcome the year 2011.

iPhoto 11 will have new slideshow theme, with Facebook and email sharing enhanced, all done in full screen modes to give you a feel that you’re using a… an iPad? There’s also a feature to let you create your own ‘professional quality’ photo album and letter cards.

iMovies 11 sees lots of new features, and heavy social site integration too. There’s the refreshed audio editing option, and unique ‘People Finder’ that identifies individuals in movie clips. Audio tweaks include per-segment sound levels adjustments as well as easy fade sliders; there are also additional new audio effects for people to play around with. 24fps video editing and output is now supported, allowing you to export more film-like trailers using the templates thrown into this new software. iMovies 11 also allows you to place your videos to iTunes so that you can view them in all your iDevices. There’s also easy upload to YouTube, Vimeo, and Facebook.

GarageBand 11 sees some very interesting add-ons too. There’s FlexTime, Groove Matching, lots more guitar and amp effects, new piano and guitar lessons, and a unique ‘How Did I Play’ feature, which is a mixture of psot-play analysis and a Rock Bank-like live note monitor. Green means that you hit it correct, and red means that you missed the note or the hole.
iLife ’11 is immediately available today as a free extra on new Macs, or as an upgrade option on some Apple machines for the price of $49. Not too shabby, considering that you’re getting lots of fun apps. That’s Apple for ya.
