Intel and Microsoft CEOs wants to have a good fight with iPad

During the announcement of Intel’s huge $11.1 billion quarter profit, CEO Paul Otellini mentioned about a chip to beat iPad. Same case goes to Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer during a post-Windows Phone 7 interview with CNET, who expressed his desire to give the iPad a punch. See the similarity here? Steve Jobs really gave some ‘butthurt’ to them, as we can see so many iPad-wannabe in the market.

Even though Mr Ballmer mentioned that hardware vendors will have plenty of Windows tablets this upcoming holiday season, before Oak Trail is out, he mentioned that the chip from Intel will boost the Windows tablet experience, and specifically said that it’s “an important part of our roadmap”.

Meanwhile, Intel’s Otellini explained just how much Chipzilla will bank on the touchscreen slates to come, saying that Intel will “utilize all of the assets at our disposal to win this segment” and calling the tablet market a viable third business alongside PCs and netbooks. “You will see Intel solutions that run on Windows, Android and MeeGo operating systems across a variety of form factors and price points,” he said, and suggested that Oak Trail silicon would lead the charge.

Another interesting thing before we end this article is that Mr Otellini said that Intel intends to integrate the recently-acquired Infineon’s 3G and LTE (4G) wireless capabilities directly into Atom processors for tablets and phones, starting in about three years. Hmm…
