A New Line Of USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drives From Iomega

We’ve not heard from Iomega for quite some time, but now they’re set to drop their latest SuperSpeed USB 3.0 portable hard drives called the eGo. Available in both 500GB and 1TB variants, these 2.5-inch drives are equipped with a USB 3.0 interface (also backward compatible with USB 2.0), a built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption and come bundled with the Iomega Protection Suite Software that includes Iomega’s QuikProtect, v.Clone and Trend Micro’s Internet Security programs.
The eGo USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive will begin shipping in early October for $114 (500GB) and $189 (1TB), respectively. Iomega is also planning to upgrade its Prestige Compact along with the balance of its external portable hard drives to the USB 3.0 standard.
