MSI WindPad 100 nearing production, design is final.

Back in Computex 2010, everyone was trying to show off their prototype tablet running on either Windows 7 or Android. But somehow the hype has chilled down. Now, of nowhere, MSI’s WindPad 100 has resurfaced with a better build design that seemed to be rather ‘final’ and ready for production. MSI’s slate design has seemed to mature, and is waiting for its final showcase at IFA in Berlin in about a month’s time, before mass production starts.

As a recap, the WindPad 100 will be running at the same Atom Z530 CPU with 2GB of memory and 32GB of SSD, if the specs are not altered before production. Besides the Atom processor, other specs don’t seem to be out-dated. It would be nice if MSI uses Intel’s upcoming 32nm process NAND chips for the SSDs. MSI will most likely retain the Wind Touch UI overlay, besides the HDMI port and USB ports. According to MSI’s distributed pictures, they have also designed a dock for the WindPad-series slates, which will expand the slate’s connectivity options greatly, and perhaps even replenishes the battery. Hopefully we will see the production version soon.
