Leaked Intel roadmap shows mass invasion of SSDs, and new processor naming scheme

This picture above that you see is supposedly leaked slides of somewhat-legitimate Intel’s roadmap for the year 2011. If they seemed to be real, then 2011 will surely be the year of SSD’s mass invasion. Intel’s 25nm flash process seemed to be ready to double up the company’s award-winning consumer SSDs capacity up to 400GB of ‘enterprise-grade’ multi-level cell memory. Since they’re moving to 25nm, the remaining 34nm silicon will be used to mass manufacture what they call ‘a series of netbook-sized mini-SATA drives’. Smart ‘recycling’ ideas. Surely many would be tricked into the so called ‘new’ mini-SATA drives when purchasing netbooks.

Processor wise, Intel has done it again, by changing the naming scheme by some small slices. Intel will be launching new Q67 motherboards, and the processors that comes with it will be named something like Core i7-2600, i7-2600S, i7-2600K and i5-2500T, instead of the now-familiar Core i7-870 for example, with the K (as in the past) affording you an unlocked multiplier for overclocking and the S equalling reduced power consumption, or vastly reduced for the T models. A processor running at 3.5GHz with merely 35W of juice seemed to be interesting enough for next year’s upgrade.
