FaceTime: 3MB per minute data, good enough for your limited data plan?

Not everyone is having unlimited data plan. What’s more, now that JailbreakMe allows you to ‘FaceTime’ your friend directly through the air using your 3G connection, more data will be ‘sacrificed’ for your evil deed. Now thanks to the folks at 9to5Mac, you’ll be able to comprehend even more whether or not you should jailbreak your iPhone 4 and FaceTime your friend using 3G. A 5-minute call resulted in 14.7MB of data transfers — including both uploading and downloading – for the 3G-riding iPhone, which breaks down to a rate slightly lower than 3MB per minute. Not that bad actually, considering you’ll be downloading even more if you’re spamming your iPhone to watch Justin Bieber over at JewTube.

You actually have another option of using Fring’s video call through 3G, which is claimed to have only a 1MB per minute consumption. But of kush, FaceTime-ing is soooooooo cooler than video calling your friend using Fring.
