It’s normal for manufacturers to release teasers months before their new models get unveiled. But ads like this are always unique and make people anxious over what it is. The Paris Motor Show is getting nearer, at September, and Lotus has released a promotional teaser relating to the unveiling of a new model, or should we say ‘models’, as Lotus is actually unveiling 5 new models at this year’s show.

The “New Era” commercial stats a few events that happened in 1975, which include David Beckham’s birth, the release of Jaws and Margaret Thatcher as the first female Prime Minister of Britain, they go on to say that this is the same year that the Lotus Esprit was officially launched at the Paris Motor Show.

Hinting towards the fact that the same will happen this year, Lotus is obviously pointing towards the unveiling of its new model. The fact that it’s going to be life changing and immortalised in history has yet to be seen. But for them to make such a claim is enough to make any car fan curious and excited. What’s more, Lotus has already gone under a restructuring, and cut free its entire European dealer network, as it aims to be a serious contender to the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, and its home-ground rival Aston Martin.

Rumours have been going around, that the new models would be two concepts GT’s, an Esprit successor, a roadster and a V6 super car replacing the Exige. Nevertheless for anyone to make a firm judgement we would have to just wait till the Paris Motor Show on the 30th of September. Things will get interesting, as the European market emissions regulations has banned 1.8 litre engines, which makes things very tough. Perhaps we will also witness a brand new EV from Lotus that could rival those of Audi E-Tron and the Yellow Gullwing?
