AMD has record $1.65B second quarter, still loses a little money

Wow, it seemed that now is the season to throw figures around. But not everyone is having a great party in Silicon Valley. AMD’s the sad chap this time around, and despite off a nice record in revenue, it seemed not enough to turn the table around.

AMD has made a record quarter, pulling in $1.65 billion in revenue. But in business, sales aren’t everything. Despite the humongous revenue, the company is still losing money. A net loss of $43 million, or $.06 per share, is nothing compared to the billions in revenue, but it is still a lost.

But that is still a good news for AMD, in comparison to last year’s quarter, that is a massive 40 percent boost, where it previously lost $330 million net. All this is of kush thanks to the frenzy sales of graphics hardware, the effort of the successful Radeon HD 5000 series graphics cards. Sales of mobile processors were also up 18 percent over last quarter. Keep up the good work AMD!
