Aegis Bio gives you 640GB worth of fingerprint-protected storage

This is the latest gadget from Apricorn, which targets corporate road warriors thinking that they are Ethan Hunt. Apricorn specialize in personal storage products that have extra security functions. Their new Aegis Bio has been given quite a boost in storage capacity, which has been upped to 640GB. Not only that, but the Aegis Bio also comes with 128-bit AES hardware-encrypted biometric security, in the form of fingerprint scanner.
“With several of the largest data breaches of 2010 involving lost or stolen portable storage devices, the need for secure portable storage has never been greater,” said Mike McCandless, VP of Sales and Marketing at Apricorn. “As more employees take their work on the road or between home and office, companies are looking for secure ways to keep their proprietary and customer data safe, and the Aegis Bio delivers on this need.”
Suddenly, carrying this external hard drive makes you a wanted person from the mafia or sort. Prices of the new models top out at $160 for the most voluminous one, making them thrifty enough to buy even if you don’t need secret agent-level security, which I think hardly anyone would really need. Let’s face it, if you are the type of ‘secret agent style’ person who really carries secured and encrypted data around, you won’t even be carrying such thing. Won’t that be too obvious if you do?
