Savvy a mini iPad?

While the whole world goes crazy over the newly launched iPhone 4 and iPad, Apple is already hard at work to continue their innovations. Remember the small 5-inch like touchscreen panels that surfaced on the web? It’s confirmed to be from Apple. Taiwanese web site DigiTimes reported that Apple has placed new orders with Taiwan-based component makers, for 5.6-inch, 7-inch, and 9.7-inch iPad models. What’s more, these screens might also be OLED based. Rumors have it that these 5.6-inch and 7-inch models are meant to target the ebook market.

Samsung and LG were reported to have increased their momentum into the OLED market, but it is unlikely that Samsung will be supplying OLEDs for Apple at such a short notice. What’s more OLED have been under shortage all this while, so it’s not feasible for Samsung to supply Apple with them. Samsung is currently beefing up its Super AMOLED screens for its new smartphones. Also, we believe that Apple would consider adding their ‘Retina Display’ to the new versions of iPads. However, Apple’s 9.7-inch model will have Chimei Innolux as one of the panel suppliers and will have minimal changes.

This came as a surprise actually; as I believe many have yet to check out the iPad as it is still considered very new in some countries. Anyway, we shall end this post with a somewhat relevant picture.
