Sony has released their white knight in a bid to lead their armies and win the console war against the new Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.

July 29 would be the day the ‘Classic White’ Play Station 3 console hits retail. Tagging along the refresh is a slight increment in HDD capacity. The Cell powered console will have a new 320GB HDD instead of the old 250GB. The standard ‘black knight’ will also have the 320GB upgrade option. There’s also a smaller capacity 160GB version to replace the 120GB older units.

Prices come at ¥29,980 ($341) for the 160GB and ¥34,980 ($398) for the premium 320GB offering. At the moment, only Japan is getting this upgrade. There’s no news of launches outside of the country of the rising sun, yet.
