Wacky bridge design that looks confusion but solves problem

Pearl River Necklace Bridge

I might not be a civil engineer or an architect, but don’t you think this bridge is slightly too wacky? It’s called the Pearl River Necklace Bridge. Makes you wonder if it’s joint by pearls. It does look stupid and illogical, but it’s designed to provide a solution to an issue.

Pearl River Necklace Bridge

This bridge will be connecting Hong Kong and mainland China. But then, the people in Hong Kong drive on the left side of the lane, while in China they drive on the right side. And that’s how they solve this issue, with a wacky and twisted bridge to change the lanes. Though this bridge does look awesome and full of win, I think there’s many other methods to solve this problem, more effectively, more resource saving, and less complicated to look at. Nevertheless, it’ll be a thrill to drive along this bridge.
