Volvo C60 Automatic Braking Test Fails

What went wrong? We don’t know. Volvo is showing you how not to demonstrate your car’s “Collision Warning with Auto Brake” system in front of a live audience. According to the report, Volvo said that “there was human error involved in the preparation of the demonstration”. Video after the break.

My 2008 Volvo XC60, one of the first on the roads in Britain, proved just how well the auto braking system can work when travelling across Belgium last August when a car, overtaking on the left-hand side, decided to pull across the front of me into the gap I leave for idiots and slapped on its brakes. I had not really noticed the intruding car as I was keeping a watchful eye on the truck in front of when, all of a sudden there was a
tremendous grinding noise from my XC60 and we, the passengers, were shot forward into our safety belts. In fact I actually wondered what had happened as things had happened so fast, until my front seat passenger noticed an orange light on the dashboard and worked out the XC60 had avoided us having a nasty shunt without any input from me. Trust Volvo. Thank you.
