Rubik's Mirror Blocks is not more difficult than Rubik's Cube. It works just the same and you can use the same techniques to solve Rubik's Mirror Blocks.

I thinks it's only for the mind more difficult to remember heights than colors. As I already have Rubik's Mirror Blocks from Japan I've tried it myself. It takes just a bit more time to solve Rubik's Mirror Blocks, time to think and check and re-check all height's, than Rubik's Cube with its colors.
