LG Display has started the mass production of its 17.1-inch LCD panels for Notebook PC on 16th September 2008. This LCD is equipped with RGB LED backlight technology, first time in the industry. The RGB LED backlight technology uses LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamps that emit three primary colors of red, green and blue.

The color reproduction rate of the LCD with RGB LED backlight reaches up to 105 percent ~ 40% more colors and 30% better contrast ratio comparing to the conventional CCFL models.

Additionally, this LCD is also a eco-friendly part as it is mercury-free.
