Aha! New Zealand scientist said that the Tearless onion may soon be a reality which means no more crying when cooking or cutting onion. That’s good news to all chefs and mothers! The Crop and Food research scientist Colin Eady said that the onions were still in developmental stage. He has been conducting lab tests to dry up the agent in onions that makes you tears. No more crying soon baby.

“Researchers have used gene-silencing technology to switch off the enzyme that is responsible for the “crying” compound when an onion is crushed.”
