DIY: $5 iPhone Screen Replacement

September 20th, 2007

iPhone is pretty fragile so try not to drop. If you got a crack screen then you need to draw $250 from your wallet to get a new one from Apple. But there’s a cheaper way to replace the screen and that’s by a sheet of 1/32-inch thick plastic, the whole thing will cost you only $5. Get a piece of that plastic, a razor blade, Goo Gone (sticky lifter tool), scissors and glasses for eye protection, now scrap of the broken glass with the glue then you will see those sticky glue on it so remove those glue using the Goo Gone. After that, measures and cut the plastic and rounded the corners. Color the part that is supposed to be black with either paint or marker. And finally you got your iPhone back. It’s a pretty hard work but you’ve work for $245. It’s done by SomethingAwful forum member named Epic Proportions. More images after the jump.
