Money River

March 29th, 2007

A passer-by notified police after seeing bank notes floating down the Sakai River – a river located on border between Tokyo and Kanagawa prefecture. The police used fishing nets and scoop up 2.7 million yen which is about $23,000 mysterious cash. Police managed to catch 270 soggy 10,000-yen (US$85; €64) bills, Japan’s biggest denomination, the official said. The Japan police are still investigating where the money from and why it was dumped. Wow.
