Japanese site Game Watch tested to upgrade the HDD of the Sony PS3 with a larger hard drive to 100GB. Sony apparently describes its HDD upgrade procedure even in the handbook. Sony placed in Seagate LD25.1 hard drive on the 20GB PS3 while Seagate Momentus 5400.2 on the 60GB hard drive. The Game Watch team replaced the Sony PS3 HDD with Seagate 100GB Momentus 7200.1. After the PS3 restart, the console automatically suggests formatting the new disk. In the performance test, the faster HDD did not make much different.
